BUSINESS MIND WITH THE HEART OF AN ARTIST

Lindsey Plotner

I exist at the intersection of art, communications, connection, and innovation.

I have the experience and leadership capacity of a marketing professional.

As Marketing Manager for BodyVox (dance center and professional company), I direct my passion towards understanding the vision, brand, and narrative of a non-profit arts organization. I head all local and national media relations, provide in-house graphic design services, and manage the execution of print, digital, and word of mouth campaigns. I also built and manage bodyvox.org. I began my time at BodyVox as a Front Desk Specialist and was promoted to Marketing Manager within six months - a result of my determination, focus, and ability to meet the evolving needs of the organization. Now in my second season with BodyVox, we’ve successfully sold out both nights of our opening show “BloodyVox” and are on track to have the most successful season since 2020, slowly rebuilding the company’s brand, reputation, and audience after Portland’s arts community suffered significant losses in the pandemic.

I have the passion and vision of an artist.

I am the lead singer and songwriter of a folk duo called “Ned and Wendy the Band”, which I formed with my husband Jordan. I am also the band manager, a role which covers everything from PR and booking to music production and video direction and editing. Our most recent music video “Disco is Dead,” which I directed and edited, won the International Music Video Award for “Best Horror Music Video” in October, 2024. Our latest album Back Around Again dropped July 25, 2024. The album has been nominated for Best Folk/Americana Album in the Pacific Northwest Music Awards, and the album’s single “Marvelous Child,” which I wrote, is nominated for Best Lyricism. Not only did I write, perform, and co-produce the music on the album; I also managed the release campaign, securing radio airplay on multiple local stations, album reviews in print and digital publications, and a television spot on KOIN AM Extra. I also significantly increased our social media reach and engagement through utilizing trends, ads, and understanding the algorithm. I also created and distributed marketing materials for our album release concert, which had an attendance of over 200 people, our largest concert to date.

I take on new projects with humility, curiosity, and a willingness to fail and, in turn, grow.

My approach to art, business, and life is holistic. While I enjoy taking time to zero in on detail, I can’t help but consider the larger picture every step of the way. This way of creating has taken me outside of my established comfort zones and shown me that I am capable of much more than I’d previously thought. For example, five years ago, you’d be hard-pressed to convince me that I would co-create an award winning musical documentary called Welcome Home Ned and Wendy, which premiered at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Nor would I have expected that I’d become co-host of the radio show “City Hums” on KXRW 99.9FM - a musical mosaic of Portland and beyond! In May of 2024, “City Hums” was invited to be the Official Media Sponsor of the 53rd Annual Northwest Folklife Festival in Seattle, WA, where we hosted three interviews in front of a live audience. While I’ve had a wonderful education, it’s the real-world experience and learning by doing that has taught me the most.

I am a big picture thinker with the work ethic and grit to execute projects on every scale and bring concepts to fruition.

I have the critical thinking skills and conceptual capacity gained from a dedicated academic journey. I graduated from NYU’s Music Business program with a Masters degree in May of 2020 - finishing a rigorous academic program in isolation amidst the anxieties of Covid with a 3.83 GPA.

I see obstacles as opportunities and never as dead-ends.
